Invitation to Participate

Tales of a Phoenix invites women of all ages and backgrounds to contribute a single act of inscription to an evolving artwork.
To participate, choose a piece of fabric that feels appropriate to you — it may come from something personal or be entirely new. On the fabric, write what you are prepared to release. This may take the form of a word, a phrase, a sentence, or a mark. You may sign your first name or remain anonymous.
This gesture is not intended as confession or self-improvement, but as a deliberate personal act situated within a larger artistic structure. The inscription is understood as a moment of decision rather than explanation. Participants are encouraged to approach the act with care, allowing the material, the gesture, and the time taken to write
to carry meaning.
During public performances, these fabric panels are stitched into a growing skirt by the artist. The act of stitching is ceremonial, binding individual contributions into a single form. As the project travels and evolves, the garment expands — accumulating weight, density, and presence, and gradually altering how it moves, occupies space, and is perceived.
Contributions may be written in the participant’s mother tongue. Creative responses are welcome, and contributors are invited to focus on the act itself rather than concern for legibility or interpretation. Artists are welcome to participate; however, the work does not accept professional contributions or portfolios.
